Hamilton: Urban RenewalHamilton's port is being rejuvenated and the downtown core is rapidly changing, becoming a hub of new residential and commercial development. Take a bus to the West Harbour, walk at Bayfront park, rent a SoBi bike and eat at a trendy, authentic Mexican restaurant on James Street north.

Hamilton: Reducing PovertyStudents learn about poverty in Hamilton and the various ways organizations alleviate the problem. Then they explore examples of urban decay and renewal, including lunch at Nations in Jackson Square. After lunch, students learn about immigration at Saint Joseph's Immigrant Women's Centre. The tour ends at The Mustard Seed, a coop grocery store where they learn about food, environmental sustainability and alternatives to our dominant economic system. Lunch Money only
Toronto Trip: Multiculturalism
Students explore urban patterns and multiculturalism as they visit the AGO, Saint Lawrence Market, Kensington Market, and China Town. The Native Canadian Centre is also a venue we will try to visit. $15 + GO Train + lunch

Toronto Trip: Sustainable Design
We will take you on a tour of the Don Valley Brick Works park and talk about the geological and natural systems that shaped this place. Learn about the technologies both new and old that are implemented here as a model for making Toronto and all cities more livable for all people Students will learn about the global food system from seed to fruit, as well as some of Evergreen’s efforts to make food healthy, local and fun! Students will also discover how Evergreen, using green technologies, transformed the Brick Works and brought back wildlife and natural systems to this area. $15 + Go Train and Lunch |
Six Nations Reserve and The Woodland Cultural Centre
The Woodland Cultural Centre, a museum of excellence, opens the doors to Southern Ontario’s First Nations past, present, and future. School and Public programs, offer interested visitors the opportunity to discover Native Ontario. Students will tour the Mohawk institute and learn about the residential school system and Truth and Reconciliation Commission. $15 + Bus and lunch
